Fungal genome and secretome evolution.

Welcome, welcome! I am a PhD candidate at Emory University in the Population Biology, Ecology and Evolution program where I study genome and secrete-ome evolution in fungi.

While my interests are based in understanding host-parasite coevolution, fungi captured my scientific soul with their immense diversity, adaptability, and capacity as biochemists. My work uses a combination of phylo/comparative genomics, microbiology, and metabolomics to investigate the fungi associated with fungus-growing ant system (yes, ants that grow fungus for food). Ultimately, I aim to understand the genetic/genomic and metabolic changes that accompany specialization and identify the mechanisms that mediate such processes.
